01What we mean by cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. “Similar technologies” include local storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs). In our mobile apps we don’t use browser cookies; instead we use on-device storage and identifiers that do similar jobs, described below.
02Cookies on the Amril website
On amril.app we keep cookie use to a minimum. We use:
- Strictly necessary — needed for the site and the web app to work: keeping you signed in, maintaining your session, and protecting against abuse (for example, security checks from Google Firebase and Cloudflare). These can’t be switched off without breaking the site.
- Functional — remembering choices such as guest mode or your home country so the site behaves the way you left it.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your information to advertisers.
03On-device storage in the apps
The Amril apps store some data on your device so the app is fast and works offline:
- Preferences — small flags such as whether you’re browsing as a guest, whether setup is complete, and your verification status, so the app opens in the right state.
- Local caches — your recent chats and notifications are cached on the device for instant, offline access (see the Privacy Policy for message retention).
- Identifiers — a push-notification token and security identifiers needed to deliver notifications and keep your session safe.
You can clear this by signing out or clearing the app’s data in your device settings.
04Third-party technologies
Some features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies or use their own SDKs, including Google Firebase (sign-in, messaging, notifications, security), Cloudflare (security and content delivery), and our payment partners during checkout. Their use is governed by their own policies.
05Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete them. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working. For app storage, use sign-out or your device’s app-data controls.
06Changes
We may update this policy as the site and apps change. We’ll update the date above when we do.
